WordPress keeps my site running pretty well. Seriously, it’s the best blogging thing out there. One of the best things about it is the ability to easily use plugins to keep your site running extra-smoothly, to change things you don’t like, or to add some extra zipadee-doo-da to your site. Here’s a list of the ones I use.

Visible Plugins

  • Compact Monthly Archive
Creates a monthly archive that is so small, it’ll fit everywhere. Visible on my archives page.
  • FlickrRSS
Pulls my latest Flickr photos for your enjoyment. Visible in my sidebar.
  • Identify External Links
Just a little ten-pixel warning that you’re being shipped off to another site. Visible in any entry/page.
  • Link-a-Dink
Automatically turns certain words into links, such as CYF. Visible in many entries/pages.
  • One Year Ago
Shows you what I was blogging about a year ago, and refreshes some old posts in the process. Visible at the bottom of any entry that has a corresponding entry from the year before.
  • Random Quotes
Pulls random quotes from the database and displays it for your entertainment or pondering. Will be visible in the sidebar.
  • Random Redirect
Click this link and it will take you to a completely random post, much like StumbleUpon. Visible at the bottom of the sidebar.
  • SRG Clean Archives
Lists every post I’ve ever made, grouped beautifully by month. Visible on my archives page.
  • WP Contact Form
Allows visitors to contact me via e-mail… the lazy/easy way. Visible on my contact page.

Invisible Plugins

  • Akismet
Without this plugin, there would be thousands and thousands of spam comments on this blog. Eww.
  • Counterize
Stalk! Stalk! This allows me to see every visitor, where they came from, and where they’re going. Creepy, much?
  • DoFollow
This just means that you “get credit” for having your link in my comments. Good for Google and all that, I think.
  • FeedSmith
Redirects all of the requests for my RSS feed to Feedburner.com, mostly for stats and FB goodies.
  • KillPreview 2
Gets rid of that nasty iFrame clogging up my admin panel.
  • No Self Pings
Doesn’t leave clutter when I link to my own pages. Silly wabbit!
  • SpotMilk (BlackMilk)
MYYYY admin panel is prettier than YOURRSS.
  • Theme Switcher
Allows me to preview and work with themes without you looking over my shoulder and laughing at wonky-ness.

Et Cetera

In addition to plugins, the following are incorporated into my website:

Also, this website would not have been possible without God, ramen noodles, iTunes, LB, Notepad, or lemonade.
