Raise your hand, please!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Well, it’s back to the classroom! College really isn’t coming through right now. It’s really frustrating… and I’m sure I could be doing a million things better. I’m not going to dwell on that right now.

Besides that, none of the colleges around here have a great web design program (most don’t have one at all), and there’s not even any art institutes, like Andrew suggested. Anyhow, the local tech center (Gordon Cooper) has online classes… and quite a few that are on web and graphic design. Hooray! That means no fussing with my work schedule (I really do like working days) and no transportation issues (another story entirely). Classes start tomorrow. I got to bypass all of the way, way easy courses (Shawna, they teach you to use tables and iframes and <FONT> tags… oh my!).

I was a nerd in school. I’m really excited about starting this tomorrow. Six weeks! I’ll be having a blast. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

Edit: I “attended” my first class today… and really enjoyed it. It was informative and didn’t assume you were an idiot. I think this will be a fun six weeks!

I’ve had an apostrophe.

Good grief, look at me. I’ve been blogging non-stop… and there’s no blogathon in sight!

Got my official wedding invitation from Amanda today. I called her to tell her I got it, but she ended up calling me while I was getting the message from HER phone to leave a voice mail message. Too funny! So… we talked without actually talking. Anyhow, I’m not even sure what my plans are when I get up there. I mean, I’m torn between wanting to spend time with my grandmother (Dearma), because we’re crazy-close, and seeing all/some of my old PA friends.

We’ll see how it goes.

In the meantime, my sister helped me along with this revelation yesterday. “You know, they’re all halfway through college.” Meaning, of course, the class I graduated with. And look at me! Full time job (well, by hours anyhow) at an ice cream place, trying to learn what I can while I save up for classes. My gosh, I feel like such a failure!

PS: Yes, the title is supposed to be “apostrophe” and not “epiphany.” Come on, haven’t you seen Hook?

Smee: I’ve just had an apostrophe.
Captain Hook: I think you mean an epiphany.
Smee: No… lightning has just struck my brain.
Captain Hook: Well, that must hurt.

Things I learned as a teenager

  • No matter how much you like him, the fan club is not an option. Seriously, it’s totally a turnoff. Even the most egotistical boys (which he was not) does not want five pre-teen girls chasing after him.
  • Just because you could coast through once does not mean you can do it again. I found out in eighth grade that you can’t always coast through classes, even if you’ve done it all your life. I got my first and only F in Health that year.
  • No normal guy can resist a notebook he sees three girls passing around. He will steal it. He will take it into the men’s bathroom at church. And he will read it.
  • It is unwise to pass an entire weekend in the middle of nowhere with nought but a board game. You will start playing the game in ways it was never meant to be played. Happy T-dancing will ensue.
  • Just because they say they’ll keep in touch does not mean that they will. When you move, life moves on without you.
  • Sometimes you judge too quickly and ruin a good friendship. There’s one of these in particular that I botched… and badly. Holier-than-thou is never attractive, and it always comes back to bite you in the butt.
  • Guys will say anything to get out of… well, anything. No more explanation needed!
  • First impressions stink. Because your first impression can be a hateful one, and you’ll grow to be inseperable best friends.
  • Enjoy high school while it lasts. Seriously, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. High school rocked. Stress and all.

I think I’ll add on to this some more later!

Edit: I never got a chance to add onto this… but Linda Belle did.
