Tomorrow, two of our cats are taking the long ride.
No, that’s not nearly as ominous at it sounds. Well, yes and no. Tia and one of her kittens, Jackie, are going with Dad to a farm somewhere between here and Seminole. Why? Well, because Jackie has this evil penchant for… well, using a section of my room as her litterbox at least once a day. What a nice way to be greeted from work, right?
Tia’s going because… she used to be my baby (she was the kitten I rescued two years ago) but lately she’s been this nasty brat of a cat. She doesn’t even like me anymore… and I could always count on her to come snuggling up about three minutes after I climbed into bed at night.
Oh, and she’s pregnant again. I swear, Tia sits at the end of our road waiting for cats to come by, and then she totally does that cliche scene you see in old movies where the girl trying to bum a ride kind of pulls up her skirt and shows her leg. Yeah. My cat does that. The first time she had one kitten, this last time she had six, and we have reason to believe that she’ll probably have about eight this time (I won’t go into details, because it’s kind of gross).
We’ve got ten cats in the house. Eight more will put me at eighteen, with four more to go until I hit my goal of twenty two. That’s sick. I’m not quite ready to resign myself to being the crazy cat lady just yet.
Either way, Tia and Jackie are taking the long ride tomorrow. Tonight is the last I’ll see of Tia… and that’s kind of bittersweet. Oh well. She’s been a jerk for months and months. Besides… I do get to keep Mouse and Jamie.
Anyhow, the title of this post was two long rides, so I guess I should also tell you that tomorrow morning I’m taking the train to Dallas for the weekend. What fun! James has got his monumental summer event planned… so I’m sure you guys will hear all about it when I come back.
Oh, and what a busy weekend I’m going to miss out on. Lonelygirl15 is doing its “12 in 12″ season one finale tomorrow, starting a few hours after I leave, and now Shawna and LB are going to take the opportunity to pull WAY way ahead in our blogathon. Phooey!

TEN Cats? Stinking CRUD!
August 2nd, 2007
Massive amounts of stinking crud, thank you. Thankfully, most of them are both inside/outside cats.

I think he’s feeling a bit down.
Anyway, WOW… that’s a lot of cats! I just… wow… so you’re coming to Dallas this weekend, then? Oooh here, I wanted you to read this but you never got online: “Autumn-Sky was once the home of the industrious and creative codesmith, Meli. If you continue to read in Site History, you’ll learn that I inherited Autumn-Sky when she decided to move her site to Chartreusian.com. Meli has always (in my opinion) had a certain graceful knack at naming things. We’ve spent many nights together scheming and thinking up names for future websites. I’m not really sure why she chose Autumn-Sky, but I bet she would weave a beautiful story to any wanderer who happened upon her new website. To me Autumn-Sky is a romantic embodiment of the cold, crisp, open night sky right between October, November, and December. Autumn-Sky is a cold glass of lemonade during a particularly scorching summer afternoon, on the porch while reading your favourite book. Autumn-Sky is walking home from the bus after a miserable day of school and finding peace with the wind, the birds, and the grass. Autumn-Sky is iced tea and sugar cookies at your grandmother’s house. Autumn-Sky is the crystal clear beauty that’s in ourselves and in nature that we experience while we’re adrift in the open sea on a windy night with only the lapping waves to sweep us off to slumber. Autumn-Sky isn’t just a face value meaning to me, it’s that feeling of oneness with the universe. “
