Send in the Clowns!

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

I’m quite certain that I’ve neglected to mention that my mother is a clown. No, I’m absolutely serious. She’s not professional, per se, but she has the outfit and the wig and the face paint. She really is a clown. Today we went to a Head Start in Moore for a friend and entertained a bunch of preschoolers for a few hours. It wasn’t that bad, actually… lots of balloons and face paint and being goofy.

Nothing else to dwell on, unfortunately. Just… I guess you could say, daily life in its glorious entirety.

Hold your breath

College may finally be working out.

Seriously, the people at OBU are so much more friendly and helpful than the people up in Edmond at UCO.  I’ve already gotten so much mail from them, have already applied and been accepted, and gotten two phone calls from my “enrollment advisor.” Today, even, I got a little box labelled “OBU Survival kit” comprised of things like earplugs “to survive your room-mate” and a one-dollar-off coupon for some coffee place “to survive late night study sessions.” How cute is that?

Apparently, it’s going to cost thirteen thousand a year (not bad at all), and with my SAT scores and academic record, I get about four thousand off right away. If I retake my ACT scores and get the same thing, I could get another thousand off. And apparently my federal aid hasn’t gone completely through yet… and there’s a possibility that I could get it all off or up to ten thousand off. It would be a miracle to go to school for free, but He’s in the habit of working miracles, so will you guys be praying?

Something New

I have a friend who makes music videos, and after months of trying to figure out how it works, I did it! It’s from the movie Newsies, if you’ve ever seen or heard of it (Xan has), and I’m kinda proud of it, as a first attempt. So if you have Windows Media Player, you can download and watch it for me…

Carrying the Banner

Anyhow, as for real life. The people from OBU are much nicer than those up in Edmond. I mean, I sent FAFSA information to UCO and they never even acknowledged me. Oklahoma Baptist, on the other hand, has been averaging a piece of correspondance every two days or so, and one woman even called me to tell me about enrollment dates and what kind of test scores I need for what kind of aid.

This is very, very good.

Working on getting my liscense and getting it soon. I got to drive Dad’s little red car (he sold his, by the way, so I did end up losing my car, but it wasn’t because of me) and I did so much better in it. I’m actually excited about driving again. If only the gas prices weren’t so day-gone high!
