A Race is not Won

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

…until you take the first step, as they say. Well, I took a step… and I didn’t fall! I got accepted to the Oklahoma Baptist University, and things are looking up! I’ll have to go in and meet with the financial aid people to see what they can do to help me, and I’ll try and get scholarships to cover the rest.

That’s pretty much my chance of college. My family lives, quite literally, day to day money-wise… I can’t expect them to help me with college at all. So keep praying for me, guys, because I really want to be in college next fall!

Forward Motion

Today I:

  • Had an interview at the new Holiday Inn over by Walmart. 90 good applications, 27 positions, hiring this evening and tomorrow and I haven’t been called yet. However, I was the last scheduled interview and I didn’t get flustered.
  • Checked on my application at the library; they haven’t looked through the applications yet but should have started by now, and so I’ll hopefully hear back from them soon. Now that’s a job I want.
  • Applied online at OBU, and then sent in my high school transcript and SAT scores. It’s not UCO, but hey, they have what I want, it’s a Christian college, and it’s a five minute drive from here so I can commute and cut my costs in half.

Pray, guys, pray. I kind of lose my car if I don’t have something going for me by Friday. Pray hard.

Shabbat Shalom!

I’m a happy camper. I have a new theme that I actually like [HECK no I did not code it, it’s totally by Beccary], and so it’s going to stay for quite some time.

No services for me last night because of lack of gas money, and so we had shabbat at home. Dad actually went freestyle on all of the family blessings and ending up crying halfway through. It was very peaceful and very different, being a planned home sabbath instead of a “we’re not going at the last moment” sabbath. We got out the good plates and had a nice dinner and then we had a torah study afterward.

Very, very nice.

OH! Camp Yeshua has been announced, so head over to the Lion & Lamb site and sign up! You must. I’ll be there, junior staff this year. Though I think we’re the sole kitchen cleaners again this year, hey, it’s camp and it’s worth it.

And on other notes, I have chapter four completed. I’ll see if I can upload it directly on here [the new wordpress rocks]. If not, you’ll see it soon enough, because I’m working on a Wordfolio subdomain that has just writing. It’s up but not up, if you know what I mean.  > Seasons: Chapter Four

And my anonymous commenter who has not commented in a while: this is an official note that you do indeed hit “leave a comment” or “# comments” to leave a comment. Love you!
